Following scores of friends & colleagues asking how I have lost 4 stone (56 pounds/25 kilograms) but seem to be eating huge portions of gorgeous food and enjoying cooking so much, I thought I would post up my recipes.
Also my thoughts on how to not regain weight once lost, and enjoy your food & drink at the same time.
All this assumes that, like me, you don’t want to shop exclusively at health food shops or order obscure ingredients, but shop at a normal supermarket, eat out in restaurants & cook food all the family can enjoy.
Plus my experience of teaching myself to create recipes (great fun), toning up arms, legs, neck, face & tummy (also fun, to my surprise) & the principles of how not to fill yourself full of carbohydrate-laden rubbish food every day.
And some myths about nutrition put to rest. There is some real nonsense written about what constitutes a healthy diet and a huge amount of sugar filled stuff labelled ‘low fat’ & marketed as healthy.
Finally in the best medical tradition, as I am a doctor, I am going to experiment on myself. I am extremely sceptical about so-called slow release carbs & planning to test my own blood sugar following ingestion of various types of food. Will keep you posted on the results!
I’m about to start exploring the scientific literature on the physiological mechanisms of insulin release & weight gain plus other health issues which may be tied in with a high carbohydrate diet. It will be interesting to see what I find out.
